Canon C5500 imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series: What's New in the Third Generation

Mon Jul 30, 2018

IT decision makers are challenged in figuring out how to better protect and manage their data, with 68% of those surveyed stating that boosting profitability and productivity will be the key benefit of cloud's role in transforming business processes over the next two to five years.

The Canon C5500 Series of A3 multifunction printers (MFPs) has been a top selling color MFP for years because of it high-speed printing, copying and scanning performance, as well as its Staple-free Stapling and Staple On Demand for finishers.

The C5500 handles paper sizes up to 12" x 18", prints up to 60 ppm (color and B&W) with a maximum paper capacity of 6,350 pages, and scans up to 160 ipm at 300 dpi (color and B&W in duplex).

By also incorporating new cloud, security and user interface functions, the C5500 is an even more compelling MFP for demanding office environments.

Cloud

The C5500 imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform refresh now features newly standard security capabilities to better support the Office of the Future. The models include cloud-based functionality, including authentication with the universal login manager (ULM), dashboard reporting and basic scan-to-cloud features when activated.

Third Generation models will additionally afford clients the capability to add additional cloud-based features that come to market from Canon and its partners in the future.

Security

In the world of IoT, security risks are increasing in the evolving workplace – and now more than ever, it is imperative that businesses have procedures to help protect their confidential information.

The third-generation C5500 imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series incorporates four key security features as standard that were previously optional:

Encrypted Secure Print: encrypts the print job in transit to the device and requires a password at the printer before sensitive documents can be printed
Secure Watermark: embeds text in your printed or scanned documents, e.g. "CONFIDENTIAL"
Encrypted PDF: if you set a password for a PDF file, only users who enter the correct password can open, edit, or print the file
Device Digital Signature PDF: embeds the digital ID stored on your C5500 model in a PDF

User Interface

A newly designed 10.1" touchscreen has been adopted for the Third Generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series. See more in the video below:
